Heather George, baker and founder, began her pie career HATING desserts. As a Culinary Institute of America graduate, savory cooking was always her passion. A little of this, a little that, and you could create something wonderful without a recipe. Baking is such an exact science that it was the enemy. Until 2016 when she decided to conquer her hatred, and yes, fear, by taking a pastry prep position in a small boutique bakery in Northern Virginia. When October came around they asked if she wanted to head the Thanksgiving pie production for the shop, and Heather jumped at the chance! Making beautiful pies for people to enjoy with their families gathered around the table was the most rewarding feeling. The idea for Sweet Crust was born.
Fast forward 5 years and hundreds of pies later, and she still loves it. Bringing a smile to peoples' faces through the flaky dough and tasty fillings. Proving that sometimes what you hate, can quickly become something that you love.
Sweet Crust makes all-butter crusts and uses the freshest, locally grown ingredients for the fillings. Just like Grandma used to make, but without getting your kitchen dirty!
